a gunman opened fire in a crowded north bay restaurant. >> police say that the victim, 31-year-old man, is still in critical condition tonight of a emergency surgery at marin general hospital earlier this morning while the gunman is still nowhere to be found. b street in downtown san rafael was shut down after 1:00 in the morning. police and the marin county sheriff's department responded to reports of a shooting at paw's mexican and fill pin quo restaurant. by the time they arrived, the

gunman was gone. police say there was only one victim, a 31-year-old man shot multiple times, rushed to marin general hospital. >> our witnesses tell us that the gunman entered the business, went right up to the victim, shot him, turned around and then ran out and ran out b street here behind me. >> at this time, police don't know if the victim and gunman are acquainted. the depsychiatrist of the gunman is also vague. >> a hispanic male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. >> the motive is also unclear. some 20 people were inside when the shooting happened. the restaurant was opened late for karaoke. laurabacker says that the manner of the shooting is rare for san rafael. >> unfortunately, we had several shootings but something like this, brazen through the middle of a crowded restaurant is very exemptional for us. >> reporter: police say it's unclear if this shooting is related to any others.

as for the restaurant behind me, it was remained closed all day long. live in san rafael, kron 4 news. a man's body found burned in an oakland alley. the gruesome scene has police looking for clues. >> police have more questions than answers as investigators try to find what led to a person burning early this morning the firefighters got the call just before 5:30 and arrived on scene to find a badly burped body in an alleyway. no one he is was injured but a fence did sustain some damage. the alameda county corp another took the body for examination. they are not calling this homicide yet. they are calling this a suspicious death. >> you know, there are injuries to the body, you know. if we can get some assistance from the but brick, you know, they may have saw something, may have heard something out

there. all witnesses that we can get is pretty much appreciated when a case like this where we don't have many leads. >> reporter: the burned body was found when 77-year-old susan fong was found dead inside her apartment a few weeks ago. although police are telling me there is no indication that the two cases of linked. they are asking for people with information to call. today, russia approved spread putin's request to accepted troop noose ukraine. president obama expressed worries about the action. >> reporter: russia is playing hard ball with the international community. >> russia approved the use of troops on the ground.

pro russian forces entered the crimea region. the heavily armed gunmen patrolled the streets and raised the russian flag over the crimea parliament but russia says that no division has been made about putting troops on the ground. ukraine said that russia rejected their offer of direct talks and already sent troops into ukraine. the troops are already there and the numbers are increasing every coming hour >> the question is whether or not what is happening now might be crossing a line. if russia has invaded its neighboring country, senator john mccain says that the u.s. can impose far reaching sanctions and could restart the missile defense program in the czech republic. >> there are a number of other action this is a we could take and obviously we are not going to be sending troops anywhere. >> reporter: u.s. ambassador to the u.n. says that russia and ukraine must engage in direct dialogue to end this conflict.

sprays a stolen car crash neighborhood an oakland home early this morning and damaged four other cars and a gas line. we spoke with a woman who lives in the house. >> at about 1:30 in the morning, i woke up to a very

lot noise and the entire house shook. large suv crashed into her garage. tack out the entire corner of the house. there was no one in the car. as even went on and pg&e came out, and fire and police. they discovered this was a pave on the gas pedal. and that car took out three other vehicles in the streets as well. there was some sort of deliberate attempt to cause havoc on our street and destroy a hot property. luckily, no one was hurt. so we are very thankful for that, very, verythankful for that. >> police are still looking for a suspect at this time. and part of the beloved doris park is closed down. why officials are hoping off this neighborhood? >> and this car ended up in the pool and it was not the first

today, an antioch family woke up with a car inside their pool. in fact, you can see it right here. how did that car manage to get inside the pool? alicia reefltsz spoke to a homeowner who thinks that is the result of drunk driving.

>> i looked out. all i see was taillights going down into my pool. >> around 12:30, friday night, this toyota careened down the trail, before railroading through the fence. >> the guy climbed out, there was water and took off through my neighbor's yard. >> they were 18, 15 and maybe 17. this trail is not for cars. now that there is only one, cars can easily slide through and run into any of these back yards. the first car took out the retaining wall before ending at the middle of the pool. >> i can tell he was just drunk, was slurring, stumbling around. he will have the alcohol bottle on the front seat.

yesterday. things are improving around sfo and the bay area. you can see it was not all gray out this today. some breaks in the clouds and some sunshine making its way through although, after this time lapse, as we go into this evening, around 8:30, there was a heavy shower at sfo. the wet weather in los angeles also beginning to diminish but another system is offshore. here it is coming in for late tonight and tomorrow. but this system is fairly disorganized. does not have a lot of rain to offer what we'll get for some is widely scattered showers throughout the bay area. that's what future cast is showing. we have some breaks in the clouds partly cloudy evening. occasional stray shower coming through during the overnight. what we see should be on the light side. here is 7:00 a.m. we notice the showers beginning to increase in intensity and

coverage. by noon, some more showers, off and on spotty showers and they'll begin to waned down until of a about 4:00 or 5:00 things will dry up and clear out. the threat for showers still continues to start the week although it is going to be just a slight chance. north bay and east bay, 50s by the bay, high els in the afternoon going into the 60s. 64 for oakland. clouds and sunny breaks as well as occasional passing shower. monday, sunshine, and a few clouds and just a slight chance for a shower. mostly sunny day for tuesday. another weather system arriving on wednesday will make for cloudy skies and chance for light rain. best chance is going to be into the north bay but this is not going to be a significant

system. we warm things up with sunshine into the low 70s. >> things may be tame here but the rain is really pummeling some parts of southern california. in fact, check this out. you can see the mud that's making its way down the hills and into the neighborhoods here. looks like a river, roaring river. 1200 homes were evacuated just east of los angeles. and it's not over yet. forecasters call for more rain over the weekend. tim lock has a closer look. i it happened in minutes. the mud poured down. >> it's bad. it's bad. hasn't been this bad in a long time. >> they are getting out while they can. >> you are not taking anything with you, just grabbing your dog? >> no, i just grabbed my laptop. it's all replaceability. >> just a couple of inches

rain. you can see the effect here with the ground burned by the fire can't hold all of this and something you notice, the debris, it shows it's been scarred by while fire. >> we need to make some changes. >> a thousand homes are under a paint mandatory evacuation order because they sit below the scorched hill. mud now and backyard. california has been in drought for months but sudden rain caught zombie surprise. two people were found stranded. take a closer look. not just people but two dogs you can see rescuers as they carefully move the animals out of the tree one by one to the nearby rescue boat. and there is more rain coming. bad news for dennis quaring.
